Start to Sail (Level 1) – 4 x 1.5hr lessons |
This is the RYA “Start to Sail” course, for people with no previous experience. The aim is to provide a taste of dinghy sailing to enable you to sail confidently in light winds under supervision. We will also talk about the relevant theory topics to help you sail safely.The course content includes: Parts of the boat and rigging – Launching and recovery – Wind awareness – Controls of the boat – Sailing across the wind – Sailing upwind and downwind – Tacking and gybing – Sailing a course – capsize recovery. If you have a group of more than x4 people, you may be required to do more than 4 lessons. |

Basic Skills (Level 2) – 4 x 1.5hr lessons |
The RYA “Basic Skills” course will give sailors with some previous experience the practical skills to sail a dinghy without supervision in light winds. Using the same session structure as Level 1, this course will make you more of a competent sailor, encompassing more efficient sailing techniques, beach / jetty departure and landings, picking up moorings and capsize recovery.

Better Sailing (Level 3) – 4 x 1.5hr lessons |
The RYA “Better Sailing” course will give sailors who have achieved Level 2 the opportunity to practise and consolidate techniques and also have a taster of what some of the advanced modules have to offer.Using the same session structure as Level 2, this course will familiarise you with rigging setup, development of sailing techniques and manoeuvres, more efficient sailing, sailing the best course and much more.

Seamanship Skills – 4 x 1.5hr lessons |
On completion of this course the sailor will be able to feel confident to make the right decision in moderate conditions.The course content includes: Reefing afloat – Towing – Anchoring – Sailing backwards – Sailing without the use of a rudder or centre board. |

Sailing with Spinnakers – 4 x 1.5hr lessons |
The course gives an introduction in how to rig, hoist, gybe and drop the spinnaker, also dealing with how to use the equipment to best advantage and sailing the best course. Once this course is complete you will be able to fly a spinnaker, using it to its full potential in light to moderate wind conditions. |
